When you feel a high value about yourself you are said to have self esteem and you feel worthwhile. But, when your self esteem is low you will feel bad about yourself. There are things you can do for overcoming low self esteem.

You need to figure out why you have low self esteem with a soul search. Figure out what is it about you that you do not like or are you ashamed about something. It is important that you find out where your low self esteem is coming from.

There will be a sense of relief for you once you figure out why you have low self esteem. Possibly, you were told you are ugly or stupid. It is important that you know how you got low self esteem. This might be hurtful but in the long run it will be worth it.

Acting as though you have high self esteem will make you feel good about yourself. However, do not pretend actually feel well.

Once you focus on your positive traits and practice feeling good, you will learn to overcome your low self esteem.

You will often feel as though you cannot accomplish certain things when you have low self esteem. This is a common trait. Sadly, this is a self-fulfilling prophecy. It is advisable that you learn how capable you are of doing things and you will find out it is more than you think.

One way to do this is by trying something new. Take a class, such as photography or pottery. Do something daring like skydiving or para-sailing. The exact activity or skill is less important than just getting out there and trying something you have never done before. With each new skill and new adventure, you will be able to add another notch to your level of confidence. You will learn that you can accomplish things, and that there is nothing you can’t do when you put your mind to it.
