Your Self-Esteem – It’s Vital to Getting What You Want

You may not know it, but the way you feel about life in general is determined by the way you feel about yourself. If you don’t have very much self-esteem, you’ll never be able to get what you want. That’s because people with low self-esteem tend to “block” good things from entering into their lives.

How’s that possible?

They believe they’re not worthy of good things and, as a result, they don’t try to achieve good things. Then, when they miss out on something they really wanted, they feel bad for not having it – and the cycle starts again.

Unfortunately, low self-esteem can be sneaky. You may not even realize how little you actually think of yourself!

To measure your own self-esteem, take a look at the statements below. Do you say any of them to yourself? If so, your self-esteem is in trouble:

– “I’m not good enough.”

It’s a short sentence that can result in long-term problems. If you’ve ever said this to yourself, it means you think you lack something – be it good looks, success, generosity, etc. And because you feel inadequate, you don’t believe you deserve to be happy.

– “He/she deserved it more.”

You might mistake a statement like this for humility, but it’s actually a sign of low self-esteem. What you’re really saying is you’re not as valuable as the other person. As a result, they deserved to get what they wanted before you did.

– “The universe is out to get me.”

We’ve all felt that way – like when the car won’t start or when we get caught in the rain without an umbrella – but if you feel like this on a regular basis, it’s a surefire sign of low self-esteem. Since nothing ever seems to go your way, there’s no point in even trying to get what you want. After all, “God” or “the universe” just won’t allow it!

– “This is too good to be true.”

Typically, this statement goes hand-in-hand with the one above. If you’ve conditioned yourself to believe things always go wrong, you’ve really taught yourself you’re not worthy of anything positive. When something good does happen, you’re suspicious of it. You might even think you’ll wind up worse off in the end (after all, “the universe” won’t let you be happy) and you actually resist it!

So, what do you do to boost your self-esteem?

It all starts with being mindful of how you speak to yourself. Instead of bringing yourself down with negative statements, remind yourself of all your strengths and tell yourself you have a lot to offer the world.

It won’t happen overnight, but eventually you’ll start to realize you feel better about yourself. At the same time, you’ll notice you’re getting more and more of what you want… It’s no coincidence!

When you have regained your life, you can come back to the place where it all started and show them that you are better for it.

There are actually five elements that you should keep in mind when it comes to your self-esteem. These are: choosing to be happy with yourself, honoring your values and holding them high, always maintaining a positive attitude, keeping away from bad influences, and unleashing your passion and creativity on something you like.
